Overall great experience.
Food taste was fantastic, portion sizes were very good, and staff was friendly.
My only gripes are the menu is very limited, there was only 1 non-lunch platter option available for take-out(even though the website listed several yet it's unclear they were dine-only); also the 1 PitMaster platter option was on the pricey side even though it was a good size portion the fact that there weren't other platter sizes to choose from was a bummer.
That said, I enjoyed the food and as a 1st time customer i would definitely return; maybe the dine-in experience is better than to-go. -

This place is average but way overpriced. Stick with the meats because the sides aren't that great in my opinion. Was a bit disappointed by the mashed sweet potatoes. They tasted a bit spoiled to me but it could have been what they used to season them.
The beef brisket though! OMG. It was amazing. Tender and tasty. -

I stopped in with my wife on a Sunday night after walking all over DC and was looking forward to some Texas Q. I really wanted to like this place, but at the end of the night it was just passable while being really expensive.
This is market style BBQ place like Rudy's or other Texas joints, but is more poorly organized and confusing. The food is at the back instead of where you come in and you take a card with you down the line. The drink situation is odd as they never once asked me if I wanted something besides water or told me where to get a refill after I sat down. The staff seemed very out of it.
The food was hit and miss. Brisket was pretty decent with some smoke and was fairly moist. Ribs were very average and a bit chewy. Slaw was fresh and crispy and beans were tangy but under cooked. The corn bread was pretty average, slightly moist, but tiny. The apple crisp dessert with ice cream was one of the highlights.
I get this is DC, but this is the most expensive BBQ place I have ever been, including many resort towns. For about a pound of meat, 2 sides, a couple bites of cornbread, and a dessert the bill was $55 without drinks! This would have been a $30 plate at the vast majority of places I have been, so almost double the price is hard to swallow given the average food quality and struggling service. -

Honestly, quite disappointed with the quality of the BBQ here. I got the brisket burger for lunch, because I was solo and didn't think I could finish a platter on my own. The brisket was dry and I had to douse it in BBQ sauce for it to be edible. The beans were good though.
The service here was curt and not present. I did not understand why there were two separate cashier lines - depending on whether you were at a table or at the bar area. Also, I had no choice of whether I could sit at a table or at a bar even though the restaurant wasn't even a quarter full when I arrived. -

This is one of my favorite bbq places in DC. So great for meat lovers. Not a good place for a romantic date. The Texan atmosphere is lovely. The service was not good this time ( the waitress somehow ignored us) but I give five stars for the service I received in my previous visits. Anyway, it's a market and you don't depend on your waitress that much. The meat, served on paper pieces, was tasty as always. We tried prime rib ( fantastic) and brisket ( again, five stars for the previous visits). The sides and dessert were tasty too. We enjoyed our meals and will be there if we feel meat craving in DC again.
